A technology diagnostic that reads like findings, not a pitch

Most "free tech audits" are a sales deck with a logo on it. This is the actual deliverable: what we found, what it is costing, what to fix first, and what to leave alone.

Garza & Associates CPA — tech diagnostic

The problem

An accounting firm knows something is wrong — the same client file gets touched four times, staff rebuild the same schedule every quarter, nobody can say which service line is actually profitable. What they do not have is a way to tell which of those is worth money to fix and which is just annoying.

The approach

Rank by cost, and say what to skip

Every finding carries an estimate of what it costs the firm in hours per month, and every recommendation carries a price and an expected payback. That makes the list sortable by something other than enthusiasm. It also means the honest recommendation is sometimes "leave this" — a diagnostic that never says skip it is a sales document.

What’s in the build

  • A findings list with each issue costed in hours per month, not adjectives
  • Recommendations ranked by payback, so the cheapest real win is at the top
  • An explicit "not worth fixing" section — the part that makes the rest credible
  • A current-stack map: what they run, what overlaps, what nobody uses
  • A phased plan with prices, so the firm can start at one item rather than a project

Who this fits

  • Accounting, legal and professional firms running on habit and spreadsheets
  • Owners who suspect they are paying for overlapping software
  • Anyone who wants a second opinion before committing to a big system

Decisions worth explaining

Hours, not adjectives

"Inefficient" is not actionable. "This costs roughly 6 hours a month across three staff" is — it can be compared against the price of fixing it, and the owner can do that arithmetic without us.

Naming what to skip

Every diagnostic that recommends everything is a proposal in disguise. Saying "this one is annoying but not worth the money" is what makes the other recommendations believable.

About this demo

Garza & Associates CPA is a fictional firm built to demonstrate the deliverable. The findings, hours and figures are invented — the structure, the costing method and the format are exactly what a real diagnostic looks like.

Questions

What does a technology diagnostic cost?

Ours runs $400–$800 depending on the size of the firm and how many systems are in play. It is deliberately the cheapest thing we sell — it is how we find out whether there is a real project underneath, and you keep the document either way.

Do I have to hire you for the fixes?

No. The document is yours, it names specific tools and prices, and it is written so another provider — or your own staff — could act on it. If everything in it is a do-it-yourself fix, we will say so.

How long does it take?

About a week. Most of that is a couple of conversations with the people who actually do the work, because the friction is never where the org chart says it is.
